New Feature: Questionnaires

Our goal at BetaBooks is to make it easy for authors to structure exactly the beta they want. One thing we've heard a lot of requests for is more customization around end of book reviews, and options to insert additional questionnaires into a book.

Today I'm happy to announce our new Questionnaires feature. This feature replaces the old "End of Book Reviews," and is better in every way. Just like Book Reviews, Questionnaires are available to authors on the BetaBooks Standard and Pro plans.

How do you add a questionnaire? Easy, there's a new button next to "add a chapter." Here's a gif that walks you through the entire thing:

Because this feature is a replacement for the old Book Reviews feature, you'll see now that the reviews tab is gone, and if you previously had reviews on your book there will now be a questionnaire at the end of your book that shows the old book review prompt and any old reviews you've seen.

This is actually one of the biggest motivations for making the change. In the past a lot of readers did not notice that there was an option to leave an end of book review. Now that you can stick a questionnaire directly "into the book," they won't miss it.

A second problem with the old system was that it left you with essentially two types of feedback -- normal feedback collected in your book, and book reviews. Book reviews lived on a separate screen, so you couldn't find them inside the feedback manager, which always felt wrong.

I think you'll find the new system is easier to use, easier for readers to discover, and much more flexible, and therefore a big improvement all around.

That's it for today, if you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to shoot me an email!
